This study is among the descriptive studies that are concerned with describing attitudes and trends. The present study aimed to know the attitudes of the members of Saudi society towards entertainment and its relationship with the dimensions of social cohesion. And identifying the attitude of members of Saudi society towards the importance of entertainment and its relationship to social cohesion. Also highlight the obstacles that hinder individuals from carrying out recreational activities. And learn about the controls and etiquette of entertainment. And finally, knowing the role of entertainment in maintaining the cohesion of the social structure and protecting it from cracking and collapse .And that by describing the social reality of what the study community is going through in light of the new vision 2030 of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for entertainment .The importance of the study revolved around the information it provides on the attitudes of community members towards entertainment that may contribute to assisting decision-makers and those responsible for entertainment in the Kingdom, such as the Entertainment Authority, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Tourism, and all government institutions concerned with entertainment and providing them with scientific findings and recommendations that will be reached. The current study, as one of the descriptive studies, was based on the social sample survey method. Based on the study methodology and the goals it seeks to achieve, the researcher relied on both the questionnaire and the scale as two main tools in collecting field study data, in addition to the interview tool as a complement to them, and designing a scale that serves the objectives of the current study to measure the dimensions of social cohesion. In the current study, the researcher relied on the objective sample that is considered among the non-probability samples, and it was applied to 415 members of the community in Jeddah, provided that they are Saudi citizens, and who live in any neighborhood of the city, and with multiple educational, economic and age levels except for those below 16 years old. The study found several results, the most prominent of which are: Recreation achieved psychological balance for the individual and reduces tensions and pressures in life, and the practice of shared entertainment among family members was a good opportunity to alleviate family disputes and tensions. And support the principles of cooperation, collective participation, and communication, and accordingly, strengthening social relations strengthens the cohesion of the social structure. The results of the qualitative study revealed that entertainment helped the individual to integrate into society, and this was in fact one of the most important dimensions of quality of life. Because it was related to the issue of belonging, cooperation and social participation, a society that weakens the social integration of its members does not have the necessary resources to achieve social well-being and quality. One of the most important recommendations reached by the researcher was the necessity of adding a general education course concerned with the topic of entertainment and its activities in order to spread awareness of the importance of this aspect in satisfying the human needs of school students to build a healthy and sporty generation. And developing study plans in universities to include programs for preparing an entertainment specialist. |
