Abstract
:
The sudden shift to online learning, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, created an issue in students’ motivation to participate and interact during the lesson. Thus, online teaching and learning practices are suggested to be explored to support students’ motivation in online classes. Accordingly, the current research aims to explore the impact of interactive slides as an online teaching practice to develop EFL students’ motivated learning behaviour in online classes. Both students (N=137) and teachers (N=3) acted as participants during the study. The study used a mixed method approach to examine the impact of interactive slides. Quantitative data were gathered from online classroom observations and an online survey. Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The study’s findings indicate significant results for supporting students’ motivated learning behaviour in online classes. The study concludes with suggesting the use of interactive slides as a motivational teaching practice during online classes.
