Abstract
:
Water pollution by oxyions residues like dichromate (Cr2O72-), perchlorate (ClO4-), etc. represents an important task for human beings. On the other, hand this class of chemicals is not well studied in the literature. The tendency has been oriented towards developing green extraction methodologies for removal and subsequent determination of trace levels of these chemicals whose hazard effect mainly depends on their oxidation states. Thus, the overall work presented in this thesis is focused on: i. Developing a novel solid phase microextraction involving sol-gel treated polyurethane foams (PUFs) as dispersive solid phase microextractor (d-µ SPME) for complete removal of chromium (VI) ions from aqueous media and subsequent determination of chromium (VI) in water samples. ii. Studying the retention profile of dichromate anions from aqueous media containing HCl by nanosized sol-gel treated PUFs. iii. Assigning the kinetics and thermodynamics characteristics of chromate sorption by the established solid phase microextractor. iv. Testing the analytical utility of the established solid d-µ SPME involving sol-gel treated PUFSs for complete extraction and recovery of chromium (VI) from water. v. Studying the various parameters that control the liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) of perchlorate anions (ClO4-) uptake from aqueous media by Rhodamine B dye. vi. Deploying a spectrofluorimetric method for determination of perchlorate anions in water. The method was based upon the use of dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) for preconcentration of ultra-trace levels of perchlorate anions followed by spectrophotometric and spectrofluorimetric determination in water. Keywords: Oxyions; Dichromate anions; Perchlorate; Solid phase microextraction; Dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) ; Water samples
