Abstract
:
The aim of the current research was to measure the effectiveness of a training program using the educational robot on developing programming skills and design thinking among middle school students in Taif. The descriptive analytical approach and the quasi-experimental approach were used to design one group with a pre and post application. The study sample conswasted of (18) female students who were randomly selected from the second intermediate grade students at Al-Sarij Complex in Taif. The tools were cognitive test and note cards to measure the cognitive and performance skills of robot programming and design thinking. The results of the research showed that there were statwastically significant differences at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the female students in the pre and post application of the cognitive test of programming skills and cognitive design thinking and the performance programming skills observation card and the design thinking performance skills observation card using the educational robot in favor of the post application. for the training programme. The results of the study showed that the adjusted gain coefficient of Blake increased more than (1.2) compared to the pre and post application of measurement tools in favor of the post application, and thwas indicates the effectiveness of the training program using the educational robot in developing programming skills and design thinking among middle school students. Accordingly, a set of recommendations were presented, the most important of which was to benefit from the training program prepared by the researcher and its tools to measure the cognitive and performance skills of programming skills and design thinking using the educational robot.
