In recent days, with the outcome of new standards, new telecommunication systems, must be able to include a large number of functionalities to achieve the requirements of several standards coexist on the same antenna, thereby providing a reduction in interference with the other users, avoiding fading, improvement in transmission speed, and ensuring better signal reception. Hence, the antenna used must have the ability to adapt to the new and variable environment, and the use of a reconfigurable antennas seems to be the best solution to achieve the requirements given with the minimum bulk and complexity. In this thesis, an Ultra Wide Band (UWB) frequency reconfigurable patch antenna operating in the frequency band 1.2 - 9.5 GHz is proposed. The antenna design relies on the choice of loops (placed at the bottom face of the antenna in the two truncated corners of the monopole patch) to short-modify the distribution of currents, and then affect the antenna behavior. In this context, we have inserted two loops within the lower part of the patch and close to the coplanar line, to exclude the two unwanted bands centered around 3.7 GHz and 4.6 GHz, while retaining the UWB behavior. The use of two loops was necessary to achieve dual-band agility functionality. The results were obtained by integrating loops on the antenna. The frequency agility property is well verified with the appearance of two rejected frequency bands. All the studied antennas were designed and simulated using Ansoft HFSS. It is seen that there is a good agreement between measured and simulated results. |
