Abstract
:
Morphological Syncretism in Arabic Abdulaziz saeed majhod alzahrani abstract The current research discussed one of the most prominent phenomena in the field of morphological studies, which is the syncretizing of morphological formulas in Arabic. The research focused on two aspects of morphological syncretism. First: the syncretizing of structures of the formulas in the sources and derivatives sections. The other: is the syncretizing of the verbal image of the word and its potential for non-morphological meaning. The nature of the research required that it be in three chapters, preceded by an introduction and a preliminary, and followed by a conclusion and results. As for the first chapter, the researcher discussed the buildings of common formulas in the sources and derivatives sections. The second chapter concentrated on syncretizing of formulas in opposite morphological meanings, such as masculinization and feminization, singular and plural forms and transitive and intransitive verbs. As for the third chapter, the discussion was focused on morphological syncretism which arises due to various morphological symptoms and reasons. This research reached a set of results. The most prominent of which was the reference to the most cyclical structures of formulas between sources and derivatives, which are: (Faeel, Fa’el and Fa’al). Moreover, the research reached results that explain the apparent syncretizing of formulas in masculinization and feminization, singular and plural, and transitive and intransitive verbs. The research concluded to a number of results related to morphological syncretism, such as: diphthongization, vowelization, deletion, imitation, abstract weight, different meaning of the nominal and actual affixes, assigning verbs to pronouns, and the vowelization of the (Laam) of the formula.
