Abstract
:
This study aimed to determine the role of multi-walled carbon nanotubes accumulation on structure properties of some vital organs in the body such as liver and kidney of adult male albino mice. Seventy five SWR white male mice (23±5 g). After 1 week of acclimation, the mice were randomly divided into 5 groups (15 mice in each group): control (saline solution) and low dose (80 µg/mouse) and high dose (160 µg/mouse) as pristine purification and coated with thiol functional group with multiwall carbon nanotube, respectively. Samples were taken from each group after one week, two weeks and four weeks of intraperitoneal injection. Then collect blood from all animals and serum analysis for glucose, lipid profile, liver and kidney functions including hepatic and renal enzymes then fix liver and kidney tissues in 10% formalin solution for optical microscopy. The study of light microscopy showed tissue changes in liver and kidney membranes including programmed cell death and focal necrosis. One of the most significant effects was the S-H group was existed in glutathione in a compound and not free, its toxicity was expected to be limited for containing compound. The study concluded that despite the benefits of multi-walled carbon nanotubes, it is important to test the safety of the use of different doses to determine the safe dose, especially on vital organs such as liver and kidney.
