Abstract |
: |
Nickel and substituted nickel ferrites have been extensively used in electronic devices because of their large permeability at high frequency, remarkably high electrical resistivity, mechanical hardness, chemical stability and cost effectiveness
The structure and consequently the properties of these materials can be influenced by their preparation methodology. In addition, the gradual changes in their chemical composition could produce clear variations in the cation distribution, which in turn drastically affects the physical and chemical properties which can be tailored by controlling the types and amounts of substituent.
Hence, considering the technological importance of these materials, their synthesis, structural and magnetic properties will be highlighted.
In the present thesis, simple, cheap, environmentally friend and novel preparation methods involved either sucrose or chitosan were used for the preparation of the entire ferrites. The ferrites formation was characterized using DTA-TG measurements. The phase formation of the synthesized materials were confirmed by XRD, FT-IR and TEM techniques. The magnetic properties were characterized using VSM measurements.
Moreover, the effect of magnetic dilution (either by the addition of paramagnetic Cr3+ or non-magnetic Zn2+ ions) on the microstructure and magnetic properties of the investigated NiFe2O4 besides the impact of the entire preparation methods was investigated and discussed. |
