Abstract
:
The family was and still is a most important social institution which cares for the child, and satisfies all his needs to be self-supporting in his private and public affairs. It is a congenital necessity and a social economic and cultural inevitability. Consequently most current theories confirmed that the role of the family is important and effective in solving the problem of children with learning difficulties. This research studied the role of the Saudi family in preparing the house environment to care for its sons with learning difficulties. The research importance stems from the need to clarify and make families aware and concerned with the ways and means of facing the problem of learning difficulties, which is considered as one of the most common problems of education among children, and the difficulty to discover this problem during children's early stage. In fact learning difficulties are that type of problems which worth study and research. The study covered families of female pupils who face learning difficulties in the elementary school from the first class to the sixth class and who are subjected to programs of source rooms in the government schools in Jeddah city. Full count method was used at the selection of the sample. The total number of the sample, after applying conditions of sample selection, is 98 families. The researcher has adopted the analytical descriptive method in the study. A questionnaire was designed as a research instrument for this study. For data collection, personal interview and telephone were used, consequently the Statistical package for Social sciences program (SPSS – V10) was used to analyze data.
