Abstract
:
Petroleum-based products are the major source of energy for industry and daily life. The transport of petroleum across the world is frequent and the amounts of petroleum stocks in developed countries are enormous. Consequently, the potential for oil is significant. The purpose of the present study is to examine the ability of a strain Pseudomonas alkanolytica to degrade oil spill in surface water. Such strain which is isolated from petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil has the ability to utilize a variety of hydrocarbons substrates. Experiments will be carried out in lab scale and the growth of microorganisms will be investigated directly and indirectly.
