Abstract
:
The clinical parameters of two groups of diabetic admission in 1988 and 1998 were studied and comparison was made between them regarding the cause of admissions, with an upward trend in the number of males. Poor glycaemic control was present in the two groups, with no statistically significant difference between them. Admissions due to macrovascular complications (MVC) were increasing, while those for blood-glucose control and infections were decreasing. Patients' education about the benefits of tight blood-glucose control and intensified treatment of MVC risk factors is great importance.
