Abstract
:
Stability of stepped columns is investigated in this paper. All factors contributing to their behavior are addressed. The effects of :elastic restraint at junction of two shafts; aspect and inertia ratios; as well as the variation in axial forces are considered. The paper is concluded by providing a closed-form solution for stability of such columns.
