Countries in the region has seen economic growth rates over the past years than the global average, has made Bahrain in 2005, the highest rates of economic growth among the GCC countries, reaching 7.2%, followed by Saudi Arabia 6.0%), UAE (5.6%, Qatar 5.5%. Besides, it was the high value of oil revenues, other positive impacts only on the level of improvement in the general budget or in the trade balance and balance of payments and increase liquidity in local banks, along with the return of the head Gulf money from abroad, all this has had a positive impact on the economies of all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Reflected these developments on the urban renaissance taking place in the GCC countries, the prices of land and real estate for residential purposes or commercial, in addition to a higher than usual in the GCC stock markets, where the rising market value of listed shares in the capital markets during the period of 2004 2005 m by about two and a half times , from 379.4 billion dollars to 932 billion dollars, and that means an increase in liquidity that has pumped in these markets and reflected in the high volume of trading, which increased from 162.6 billion dollars to 376.8 billion dollars, and the number of shares traded almost doubled from about 13 billion shares to about 26 billion shares during the same period referred to above.
There is no doubt that part of the boom in the GCC stock markets reflects the success of companies and their ability to benefit from the economic recovery experienced by the region, along with the expansion in the work of these companies in local markets, regional and global, as well as the spirit of optimism that prevailed in the region after the rise in oil prices and the preservation of this rise to a relatively long period. |
