Abstract
:
Objective: To determine the prevalence of khat and health factors as well as dangerous to the social problems related to Khat use among college students and high school in Jazan. Way: the application of the survey contains two methods: interviews and panel discussion groups, CT scan. The study was conducted in May of 2006 at colleges and high schools in Jazan. The students were chosen at each grade level in a sample of the organization. Questionnaire was also used to collect the data is self-filling. Results: The overall prevalence of chewing khat (storage) in all samples studied was 21.4% (15.2% in the colleges and schools, 21.5%). And smoking 13.6%. While the proportion of chewing khat (storage) between females and males 3.8%, 37.7%. Conclusion: The prevalence of qat chewing among male students seem highly as he is observed among females. The most important health problems related to qat chewing was known to the students. And the study concluded that it should be the teachers and the media (TV, radio and print) And those interested in the relationship with students the definition of health and social problems related to qat chewing. The results of the study will be used in the definition means helping to raise community awareness and identify Plan strategies for intervention and policy development. It will also help decision-makers in the region of Jazan in the planning of any future programs.
