Museums are the nation's memory

The cultural heritage safeguard is an integral part of protecting the human identity. Museums are considered the nation’s memory, as they store, preserve and present the nation’s heritage to their children, in order to link them with the past of their ancestors and the glories of their civilizations. Museums develop in the individual the spirit of belonging to homeland and environment. They also contribute to the educational process. On this basis, it was a concern for King Abdul Aziz University to develop the existing scientific museums and establish new museums in order to develop the educational process. Since King Abdul Aziz University is an existing educational institution, it established a department for museums that is connected to the University's Deanship of Educational Affairs. The Department’s mission is to coordinate with the scientific museums in the various sectors of the University to secure their needs, preserve their assets, maintain, renovate and define these museums. However, the outlook of the University administration found that the status of the University requires allocating an independent museum for the University itself. Recently, thanks to Allah, a unique site area of 21700 square meters has been allocated. By the grace of Allah, the work is still running to design maps for this project according to distinctive specifications. Besides, it has been taken into account to establish the Museum as a university educational and interactive museum with the public. The aim is to contribute to enriching the process of education, the cultural awareness and the belonging to the University and our beloved kingdom. We hope that this museum will be soon the civilization facet for the city of Jeddah, featured by its scientific, historical and cultural or heritage exhibits and belongings that fit to the status of the University of the Founder, which always seeks to be at the forefront of international universities.
