Establishing an Independent Building for the Museum

The mission of the integrated University Museum is a live and visual message that sends its rays to all segments of the society in different age groups in the form of a general culture and specialized information offered to its visitors in a direct, easy and attractive way. By doing so, it constitutes a broad cultural network of historical, heritage, scientific and artistic sciences. It also contributes to the provision of educational environment to serve the scientific specializations associated with the courses, which are considered to be in the interest of the educational process. Hence, it plays an intellectual and educational role in supporting many specializations of the University. Since the University was aware of the role of the educational museum, it established the first museum in 1390 AH. The first was the Museum of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and then the other educational museums in the scientific faculties of the university and its "branches" were established successively. In order to achieve the objectives and visions of the University's mission to promote the educational museums, preserve and maintain their collections, restore them, and link the museums to an integrated unit within one system, the “Museums’ Department” was established in 1428 AH. In the light of the rapid development of the University in all fields and also to keep pace with this development, the University has adopted the establishment of an independent building for the Museum on the plot of area allocated to it, which has an area of 21,700 square meters. With the support of H.E. the Vice-President for Development, Dr. Amin Bin Yusuf Mohammed Noman, we are looking forward to establish and construct the building of King Abdul Aziz University’s Museum. In designing the maps of the museum, it will be taken into account that the Museum will be an educational and interactive museum with the public, which contributes to enriching the education process, raising awareness, the belonging to the University and preserving the identity of the community in Jeddah. With Allah’s will, we hope that all efforts made will lead soon to achieve fruitful results.
